Alexandria (old town)

As we spent the whole day in Baltimore yesterday, most fellows were tired and wanted to rest.
Not my case 馃榿.
No matter the cost I would go somewhere.... alone if necessary !! 馃挭
And so I did 馃槖... Alexandria was the chosen place; in order to get there I took a bus to the Vienna metro station, took a photo of the Potomac river while crossing it and when arrived at A metro station saw a wonderful building...had to visit it of course .... it was the George Washington Mason National Memorial.

View of the memorial from the station

View of Alexandria (far on the horizon) from the memorial

Inside the memorial is George Washington statue

The building is surrounded by hundreds of trees. There is a gravestone in memory of a dead mason in front of each tree. I spent an hour reading some of the stones and found out that many masons were (and probably are) from Bulgaria.

It was funny to see these fake animals. I guess they were put there to scare the birds 馃槑

Square next to Kings street (main street). Like a hanging garden.

And, not the first time I see this. People protesting against Trump and supporting immigrants 馃檶.

Dock by the Potomac river.

In order to come back to the station (which by that time was 12 blocks away 馃槻), I took the free trolley. It drives you all along Kings street, from the metro station to the dock and visceversa. And while inside a recording tells you about the buildings and the history related to this part of Alexandria.

NOTE: Thanks to all the people who made possible many of the pictures you are looking at in this entrance 馃榿
