These days the TEA fellows have been visiting different teachers. I've found that some of them teach under the "Task based learning" approach making an interesting use of the lcd projector in class. They usually work on a couple of basic concepts first and then use a powerpoint presentation...The students are given photocopies with the content of the slides but with blanks to fill in. And finally they do a reinforcement activity (or activities), in which they repeat concepts already presented, through a Venn diagram, completing a chart while listening to a recording, or expressing their opinions. It's really effective, for all the students get to accomplish the tasks.

One of the final activities consisted of creating a family crest |

Today I saw a Literature class in which the Teacher used "Google classroom". The students worked in groups of four, they were given computers and everything they wrote appeared on the whiteboard, through the projector...The students had to discuss in each group about some issues related to the essay "A modest proposal", by Jonathan Swift. The groups could see what the others were writing and each time
a group wrote something different, the others would discuss if they were right or wrong. This created an interesting classroom dynamic I had never seen !! Awesome...

This is how the team work looked like on the board using the projector. By the left is the question the students had to discuss, and in the coloured part is what the students write (each colour is a different group) |

This is how it looked like in each computer. |
